Hi, all. I'm a member of two glider clubs here in the Philadelphia area, where I do some towing in the South Jersey Soaring Society's Pawnee, and some teaching in their 2-33 and also the 2-33 at Beltzville Soaring Club in PA. Unfortunately, that has to come to an end as I lost my job here, and have a new job out of the area. That's bad. But the new job is in Sparks! That's good!
I had an interview while I was out there on vacation a couple of weeks ago, which resulted in this new job. While there, I renewed my acquaintance with Air Sailing Gliderport. I flew there a couple of different times in 1977 (checked out by Earl Butler, anybody remember him?), and always thought that it had the best soaring I'd ever seen. I met two gentlemen while I was there, but don't remember their names. One was a tow pilot, the other owned a Slingsby glider that I ran the wing for before I left. They were nice enough to give me an Air Sailing hat and let me send them the money for it, which I did. Sure hope it got to the right place or person.
I can't wait to get there, and I'm bringing my Russia AC-4c (KD)[/img] along. I should arrive somewhere around October 6th or 7th, and plan to drop my glider off there on my way into town, as I have nowhere else to put it. One question I have is what to do when I get there if nobody is around. Can I just park the trailer where other trailers are lined up, tie it down, and then take care of the paperwork and membership another day?
I'm reading all the posts in this forum, and can't wait to meet everybody to put faces with all the birds. I hope I can keep the FlyingMonkey name, as it's a flying creature, and I've been that for years.
Can't wait,
Ed Winchester
