Seems I heard somewhere of a mass inspection day, where everybody gets their glider ready and a mechanic looks at them one after another. Does that happen at Air Sailing? Or, failing that, who gives a good deal on inspections for experimental gliders? Mine's out of annual, so I've gotta do something.

Last two years, at least, Chukar's organized an Annual Inspection day at ASI in early May on a Saturday.
For an experimental glider the annual condition inspection can be done by an A&P. It doesn't have to be an IA. The written Operating Limitations that should be part of your glider ought to have this written in them.

Well, I can't wait till May, there'll probably be good soaring days before that. But I've gained a month already this year, maybe if I wait till after March 1, I'll gain another. How about that guy Kris who does work at Spanish Springs? I gather (and hope) that he's trustworthy, but a bit expensive. I know I can get him to do it, but can you guys recommend another Airframe mechanic who I could get to do the inspection?

Hi ed,
I'm going to forward this to Chukar and see if he can give you an answer on who to use.

Hi flyingmonkey,
Here is the response from Chukar,
"Go to John Meiss at J&J at Stead just to the west of the Air Race grandstands.. He'll be the quickest and most reasonable. 972-1767. He's an A&P, not an IA.He's a very nice person. You just have to pull your glider out of the box and take the inspection panels off for him and lub it." Chukar
Hope this helps and see you at the field.
